ASTEROIDS

Although there are many asteroids and/or centaurs that can be used in astrology, only a certain few are commonly used. They are Chiron, Ceres, Juno, Pallas Athena and Vesta. The best known of these is Chiron that is often used on its own without the others. There is much interest in Chiron's attributes astrologically and there are a few websites dedicated to its study.

All of the asteroids contribute like extras in a play, adding just enough to enhance the roles of the main players, but they also play an important and necessary part in their own right. Although not as strong as the planets themselves, the asteroids can be very useful in adding to our knowledge of what we have found within our birthcharts. Like extra indicators of something that finally completes the jigsaw and patterns of our lives.

Some of these asteroids can be very useful on their own, indicating something not so specifically indicated by the planets themselves being as they cover a wider variety of things. Chiron in particular has indications of its own right and it is now becoming the accepted opinion that it should not be omitted from the birthchart as it is as much like a planet as the planets themselves.

There are four main asteroids used in astrology besides Chiron, they are Ceres, Juno, Pallas Athena and Vesta, all belonging to a mythological family. Ceres is the mother, Juno the sister and wife of Jupiter or Zeus, Pallas the daughter and Vesta the sister. These asteroids bring into astrology more feminine attributes in what was once a masculine dominated art.
